It’s that time again… The summer round of the Rice Krispies Challenge is here. While Team Asheville cooks up a playful and tasty treat to enter into this season’s challenge, Rice Krispies has something for YOU!
You may remember our Spring Easter Challenge hosted by The Motherhood. Amy , Julie, Robyn and I came up with delightful and delicious nesting chicks. The lemonade flavored Rice Krispies chicks snuggled down in little chocolate shortbread-krispie nests. They were scrumptious and SUPER cute, if I do say so myself.
Here is the Lemonade Rice Krispies Treat Recipe we created. It’s tart, creamy and extremely easy to make.
Recipe: Lemonade Rice Krispies® Treats
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies®
- ½ cup white chocolate chips
- 1 ½ teaspoons lemon zest, not compressed (about 2 large lemons)
Instructions
- Melt the butter over low heat in a large saucepan. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
- Stir the white chocolate chips and lemon zest into marshmallow mixture. Add in Rice Krispies® cereal and stir until all ingredients are well combined.
- Spray a 13×9-inch pan and a spatula with non-stick cooking spray. Pour the Lemonade Rice Krispies® mixture into pan and spread with spatula. Press with wax paper and cool completely before cutting.
Preparation time: 10 minute(s)
Cooking time: 5 minute(s)
